Carrying the Torch: Through an Eye to the World

I feel powerful So much awareness brings Power. Having seen David Suziki speak, during his blue dot tour this week,..with many other visionary speakers as well....I am so happy that my journey speaks of such things as respect for nature, indigenous culture, and the fact that we deserve to have environmental rights of fresh air, water and soil. Speak up and carry the torch. A civilized world honors the whole of ourself, with reverence for the sacred and beautifully majestic environment in which we live. Workin on the work and lovin the process. I believe in progression of Freedom, Health, Peace, Prosperity, Abundance... Respect From Brazil hosting Fifa and Olympics, through Amazon Beauty and Diversity, to Inka Culture,...From Mexico and Mayan Culture...to all around the world, learning about indigenous ways of live that are in harmony with nature and realize and live, honoring the sacred aspect of life that we are interconnected with. Respect for Spiritual Wisdom, Community Heritage and Cultural Legacy. JL CulureALL REALity -> United Culture, Universal Awareness

Video editing of 'our shared story'

As Vancouver, BC gets ready to welcome the world: Remember

We are a nation full of people who's ancestors sought after dreams of new beginnings, freedom, and opportunity....these dreams and quests for new beginnings, created canada as the multicultural country that we live in today.  However, as we enjoy our lives, let us remember the legacy and stories of aboriginal peoples who thrived among these lands that we, as a multicultural nation, call home

Alright, here I am, putting together videos that share
'many stories, one shared story'.

Stay tuned.

On to editing, creating the story we have envisioned

As a filmmaker, I recognized the olympics as an opportunity to reach the world.
Since living there, I have encountered more stories than I could have imagined!
And I have been truly inspired to share the beautiful understandings that are at the heart of what it means to celebrate the olympic spirit.

My creative mind has many ideas, and it is fueled by sincere passion,
yet it definately takes discipline and commitment to make these ideas reality.

I have roughly 125 tapes of footage from my life at this point. About 65 of them are from being out west. That is a lot of footage, which is great. Because I have been building a 'library of footage' that I can use through out my life with stories that I will create.

So to work on this current project, that is close to my heart, is taking time...because it is hard to know where to begin!!
And also, I want to make it good and entertaining because I have realized, people want short and sweet!, So I want to make something good, snappy, with good music and footage. Something that is really going to catch their Eye. That is what I am aiming for. :)

Once I do this, I can work with interviews that I have, and can continue sharing the stories that I have explored.
At the same time, I have already created an outlet of JL videos, such as my journey to come out west, which is some of what I can share with the schools/students that I want to speak with, upon going home over these next few weeks.

So ya, just a note to share with you that this editing thing is definately work, but it is work that I LOVE. there is no feeling that compares to the rush of accomplishing a creative piece of work that you can play around with, and stay up to the morning working on.

Here's to accomplishing good work to share stories of Culture and Awareness, so that we can all be entertained!

p.s
as a filmmaker, and as a thinker of perspectives, there is always perspectives to be understood.
Having explored stories of the olympics, there are definately two sides to be listened to.

Although I am pro olympics because it is an opportunity for the world to unite, and celebrate culture and human spirit, it is also important to keep in mind that people recognize another agenda of the olympic vision. (such as what about 'green olympics', saving the rivers!, being aware of colonization....and what about the people of a city that pay for the olympics to build venues....etc...etc.
At the same time, these venues do bring great things to the city, and allow a city/country to thrive in the arts!

Something to think about. . . .

Olympic Culture Journey: Welcome

Welcome,
I am going to share with you part of the journey of what it has been like to move to the city of Vancouver, that is welcoming the world in the year to come.

It has been awesome!
First of all, people I love you....and at the same time, BC is absolutely beautiful.
To live in a city, where you can take a short ride in the car, and hike a mountain, well that is for me.  It is filled with activity of sports, art and culture.  Especially in the summer, you are not short of any arrange of festivals to attend.
hmmm sailing...boat cruise...beaches!

====
To share a bit of the journey, I moved out west to follow my passion and dreams.  I wanted to reach the world, and with the olympics, I recognized this as an opportunity to do so.  However, I have been pleasantly surprised at how much of a journey was really in store for me!

Near the beginning of my arrival, I attended the Chinese New year, as this was what I love to do: attend events of cultural experience, where people come together.
A few days later, I was gifted with the opportunity to visit a friend in the interior BC.  I spent 8 days skiing in the mountains...hottubbing... true west coast vacation living :)

When I returned, the events of Cultural Olympiad had taken effect.  These are events that were organized for a 2 month duration, to experience the culture that we had, that would be ready to showcase to the world, when the world arrives for the olympic experience.

I went to various aboriginal events, in which I experienced aboriginal cultural stories, and drumming....there was also an array of music, art, photography, poetry,....events of creative imagination!

For the next half year, I experienced the city, the vibes...and many inspiring events in between.  Activism, Concerts, Festivals..I have connected with so many people who appreciate life from such a beautiful level.

:)
